"Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." ---- Gen. 12:1-3

Life abundant

Greetings in the Precious Name of Jesus Christ.

Our Heavenly Father is so loving, gracious and merciful!

I’m so thankful for all He has given me … Praise His Holy Name!

I wanted to share something my daughter gave me for Mother’s Day … yes, I know it’s been a while, but I wasn’t blogging then and I love this picture so much I just had to show it off. This is a drawing (above) of a picture I took of Prudence (Lizzy) when she was two years old. We had just moved out here to the farm and it was a whole new wonderful life. What a perfect gift for her to give me 16 years later! Thank you, my precious girl.

We just had a yard sale and we all had so much fun, even with all the hard work. We're going to have another sale this weekend, as well. We had to restrain our ‘little lawn ornament’ (Briaka) so that she wouldn’t run around underfoot while people were here. I hated hearing her maaaaaa out in the back yard while we sat out front. Have you all heard of Briaka? She is the lamb that was stepped on by one of the cows on the day she was born. Her leg was broken at the thigh, bone broken in half. Our vet came and set and sort of ‘cast’ it. We had to have her in the house until the cast came off. It was still winter and she couldn’t be out in the snow. Now, she won’t leave us, won’t stay with the flock of sheep and even follows us when we walk out to the mailbox. I think she thinks she is a dog. Our sheep dog Fly has gotten very tired of her. When we send Fly out, Briaka follows her around and tries to do everything Fly does. She is so funny. Maybe I can get Lizzy to get a new picture of Briaka and I'll post it later.

Last night I tried a new recipe … Stinging nettle soup! It was wonderful! I modified a recipe I got from a great blog, The Nourishing Gourmet. Ours was much less watery ... my Denny went out to the woods and gathered the stinging nettle. I am so thankful for him doing that. We weren't sure what we would think of it, but let me assure you, it was so good! Who would think that an herb, with stinging nettles, would make such a terrific soup. I love making such healthy recipes and using the herbs that God gave us for our health and life.

Stinging Nettle Soup
1 onion, chopped

Olive oil for sauteing onion

3-4 cloves of garlic

4 cups good chicken broth

3 very large red potatoes, washed and diced

3-4 cups stinging nettle (the smaller tender top leaves) washed and removed from the stems.

cut into smaller pieces if desired.

~ Heat oil in large pot, add onion and saute until you are pleased with the onion. I like our stuff closer to raw so that more nutrients remain in the food. Add the garlic and let saute just for another minute or so.

~ Add the broth and potatoes and bring to a simmer. Turn down the heat and cook low for about 20-25 minutes, until the potatoes are soft. Salt to taste.

~ Add the stinging nettle leaves and cook for another 5 minutes or so. Kimi says you can puree for a smooth soup, but my family likes to eat their soup. :-) They have always preferred 'stewp'. (stew/soup) But to hide the greens, some might do well to puree the soup. Salt and pepper to taste.

Enjoy!!!

Grace and peace to all you who love the Lord with all sincerity.

Remember to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, Psalm 122:6

Aww...Lizzy does such a wonderful job at drawing herself! And she was so cute! Much cuter than I was at that age. I think I still had no hair then...LOL!

I'm not sure if I heard about Briaka or not. If I did, it was very little. She sounds so cute!

And the soup sounds really good. We'll have to try it. :) My family likes to eat our soup too...

How is Lizzy doing? If she's well enough to talk, you can remind her that I can always call on the phone. It's free for me. :) I would love to talk to her again!

Oh, Jaime! LOL I would love to see a picture of you when you were two. I know what you look like now and I'm sure you were just as cute as Lizzy.

I'll get a pic of Briaka ... she is all black except for a tiny spot of white on the top of her head. She is so funny.

Hope you can get the Stinging Nettle and I hope you really enjoy the soup, too! Just be careful collecting the stinging nettle ... remember that if you don't wear gloves, you will get stung!

Well, Lizzy is trying to push through how she feels and just keep going. But, to talk on the phone?? You know her better than that! LOL She's phone phobic, remember? I don't see how she ever got through the few phone calls she has taken already. :-) She practically fainted. Every time the phone rings, she turns white. It would be wonderful if you could just come for a visit, in real life! :-)

Bless you,
Aunt Sally

LOL, well, I looked in my old photo album, and there really aren't that many. I did find a couple though, and I'll scan them and e-mail them to you later today. ;) Danny was really cute at that age. I'll send a photo of him, too. I might also borrow the one hanging on our wall. He had such pretty curls!

Oh, well I'm phone phobic, too, but you get over it after the first few minutes when you're talking to someone you like. :) I thought we both did rather well the last couple of times. :)

In my Humble Opinion, Lizzy was the cutest little two-year-old. I hope I get an "amen" to that. ;)

I remember wittle Briaka...such a cutie. And poor Fly...it must be a little like Badger with Baby Daniel crawling all over him.

I had a double-take about stinging nettle soup. LOL But it must be more healthful than MREs, from all I hear. :P Tell Lizzy I'm so happy she's doing better and I will refrain from talking on the phone with her until the next interview. ;)

God bless!
Bailey

LOL Jaime, I can't wait to see your pictures and I would love to see Danny in his curls! :-) Yes, that phobia does seem to get easier once you are on the phone ... but she is still just very shy of even starting the call. That's my girl!

Bailey, you dear! She cringed when I read her your comment. :-) "The NEXT interview??" LOL Yes, the MRE's are so bad for her. She has given them up for ever, I hope.

Blessings to you both!
Aunt Sally
I'll get some new pictures of Briaka up as soon as I can! :-) Maybe even with Fly, if she will allow it.
